was in the fall of 1980 that a new chapter was added to dance The opening of the Saint, on the former site of the"Fillmore East" on New York's lower East Side, was the culmination of meticulous planning and over $5 million ofinvestment in concrete, glass, marble and steel, not to mention the dreams and creativity that brought this concept into reality. .The Saint made an impact on the lives of many of its members and became, over a ten-year period, a mecca for people within the community seeking a place to join together on a stage that added intensity, pleasure, and, for some, a focus in life.
But like any successful club venue, what made the Saint click was the magic resulting from a fusion of great design, stunning lighting and sound, and thesupport of the community that brought the energy that made it all happen. Shortly
after its opening, it became clear that the Saint was destined to become
a legend in its own time.
